Coach Michael Flynn
Coach Michael Flynn – Founder & Director of Football
Michael “Coach Mike” Flynn has been a student of the beautiful game since 1975, when his godmother gave him what he calls his “first spherical chessboard” on Cape Cod, MA. That gift sparked a lifelong passion for understanding, teaching, and playing soccer.
He played three years of varsity soccer at Phillips Exeter Academy, earning Captain, MVP, and All-Army honors before heading to St Andrews University in Scotland, where he was the lone American on the Saints 2nd Team. He finished his collegiate career at Occidental College in Los Angeles with three more seasons of competitive play.
Coach Mike holds a U.S. Soccer D License and a Master of High Performance Futbol from MBP Coaches School in Barcelona. He has coached boys and girls in Southern Oregon for RVT, MUFC, and OFA, leading teams to championships and podium finishes at:
Southern Oregon Competitive League (SOCL)
Rogue Memorial Challenge (3rd place)
Bend Premier Cup (Champions – U12 Boys)
He is the founder of Frontier Futbol and a longtime champion of the community development impact potential of pro soccer in Southern Oregon and other Tier 2-4 cities.. He is also the creator of ScoutMatch and PitchView — two AI/ML scouting platforms focused on pre-pro player development in the United States.
His upcoming book, Playing With Purpose: Kingdom Mindset for the Reverent Athlete, explores how faith, football, and purpose can shape a generation of players on and off the field through the development of a relationship with Christ.
“At Frontier Futbol, we pursue Christ through our joy in soccer — one player, one team, and one future: VAMOS CON FE!”
